LG Town C300

LG has added another mobile phone to their line up with the launch of the LG Town C300, which features a 2.4 inch screen and a full QWERTY keypad.

The LG Town C300 comes with a range of social networking features built in, including dedicated clients for Facebook, Twitter and MSN, and it also features Social Networking System widgets that are designed to provide real time updates.

The LG Town C300 is the latest addition to the LG Town family, highlighting the needs of the current generation. Paul Trueman, Marketing Director LG Electronics UK and Ireland says “We wanted to make social networking quick and easy for busy people on the go, and the LG C300 Town with integrated SNS widgets and a full QWERTY keyboard does just that.”

Other features on the LG Town C300 include a two megapixel camera, an MP3 player, and a wireless FM radio. It will be available shortly in the UK with Orange, Tesco and Phones4U.

LG Town C300 goes to town on social networking

LG Town C300

The latest in LG’s Qwerty-tastic Town series is the LG Town C300, providing portable social networking on a shoestring.

The LG Town C300 comes with a 2.4-inch display, a full Qwerty keypad and Facebook and Twitter apps pre-installed. Real-time status and tweet updates are displayed on the homescreen on LG’s SNS (Social Networking System) widgets and push email is also supported.

According to the specification on Orange’s coming soon page, the LG Town C300 doesn’t appear to feature 3G or Wi-Fi, meaning that accessing the web on the go could be a slow and potentially costly business. There was no mention of either of these features in the press release from LG, but if this is the case it’s not the end of the world; 3G-less phones can still be capable messagers.

Other features of the LG Town C300 include a 2-megapixel camera, a music player and a 3.5mm jack.

The LG Town C300 will be available to order from Orange soon for £70 (plus £10 top up) on pay-as-you-go.

Dell Quietly Announces 7″ Android Tablet

7″ Android Tablet

I wouldn’t even say they announced it. Apparently Michael Dell just casually mentioned it at Oracle-related conference. Of course, we already knew there would be larger versions of the streak. What I don’t understand is why they released the tiny version first, and not a larger version with wider appeal?

At any rate, no other information was released, other than that it would also run Android. I think we can safely assume it’s going to simply be a larger version of the Streak, but perhaps with the “phone” aspect slightly downplayed, since holding even a 5″ tablet to your head to make a call is pretty ridiculous.

Michael Dell Announces 7-Inch Android Tablet

Dell Announces 7-Inch Android Tablet

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Michael Dell announced that his company would release 7-Inch Android tablet. He wouldn’t provide specs or a release date at Oracle’s Open World conference. This follow-up to the Dell Streak would be firmly in tablet territory size-wise and compete with the Galaxy Tab. My bet is that it’ll run on AT&T’s network like the Dell Streak.

Rumors have it that the new 7-inch Dell tablet will have an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, Android 2.1 and a 800×480 pixel display. Engadget got ahold of some leaked images of the device, code-named Looking Glass, that show it’s basically an oversized Dell Streak.

I’m hoping Dell and its wireless partner(s) get creative to avoid the same trap that others have fallen into. Best Buy will reportedly carry the device this holiday season.

Dell show off second tablet

Dell show off second tablet

Michael Dell, CEO and founder of Dell, has teased the audience at an Oracle conference on Wednesday by confirming that the company is working on a 7-inch Android powered tablet.

Although Dell didn't provide any further details at the conference in San Francisco, he did confirm that it would be running Google's Android OS.

At 5-inches the Dell Streak is one of the smallest tablets currently on the market, and certainly smaller that the new Android powered Samsung Galaxy Tab suggesting the Dell has upped the screen size to better compete against the competition.

Could a CES2011 launch be on the cards, just like the company launched the Dell Streak - a 5-inch version at the beginning of this year?

Mr Dell also confirmed that the Dell Steak, which when on sale in the UK earlier in the year and in the US last month would be going on sale in electronic store Best Buy in October.

A Dell spokesperson in the UK has confirmed that Dell is working on a prototype, however didn't have further information at this time about specs or availability.

Looks like once again the CEO has jumped the marketing machine's gun, but hey if you can't do it when you're the founder, when can you do it?
