Lawsuit Claims iPad Overheats

A Lawsuit was filed on the 23rd of July against Apple Inc. in the federal court in Oakland, California. Claiming that Apples new iPad ‘does not live up to the reasonable consumer’s expectations created by Apple’ because it ‘overheats so quickly under common weather conditions.’

The lawsuit also claims that when placed in direct sunlight the iPad ‘turns off, sometimes after just a few minutes of use. Apple has no official comment on the lawsuit that was first reported by Bloomberg on Monday.

Has anyone else eperienced these problems? Living in the UK even with the fairly hot past few months I’ve not experienced any problems with over heating while using the iPad, even out and about and in direct sunlight. Apart from not being able to see the glossy screen. Roll on anti-glare iPad options.

Apple Battery Charger gets official

Apple's just slipped something into its iMac update press release that we didn't want to go unnoticed: a battery charger.

Apple's AA battery-powered lineup now includes the wireless keyboard, the Magic Mouse (which seriously burns through the juice) and

the Magic Trackpad, and for $29 you can score a dedicated charger for all that gear.

The Apple Battery Charger comes with six long-lived NiMH rechargeable batteries which apparently have a lifetime of up to 10 years.

Update: We just had a chance to get a quick hands-on with the little guy, and well, it's a battery charger.

Apple tells us the charger has the lowest vampire power draw of any charger on the market -- the idea is for

users to keep two batteries in each of their peripherals and two in the charger, so they can quickly swap out as the cells run out.

HTC starts selling phones in China under its own name

It's long been the case that if you wanted a HTC handset over in the world's most populous nation, you'd have had to look for its rebadged variant under the Dopod brand. But, as of today, that is no more.

The prolific Taiwanese phone maker has decided that its name is now recognizable and valuable enough in China to be put on its own hardware and is kicking off a campaign with four own-branded phones.

The Wildfire and Desire we're all familiar with already, while the Tianxi looks like a mildly tweaked HD2 and the Tianyi is a mix-and-match of design elements from the rest of HTC's portfolio.

The company's also announcing a partnership with China Mobile to bring these puppies to market, so it's looking like smooth sailing ahead. Full PR after the break.

SIM-free Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro available from Mobile Fun

Android have had a succession of massive hits this year, with the HTC Legend, Wildfire and particularly the Desire all being released to wide acclaim and rave reviews.

The Xperia X10 marked their move into Sony Ericsson handsets, and proved wildly successful; this was quickly followed up by the X10 Mini and now the X10 Mini Pro,

which is virtually identical but for the clever addition of a teeny slide-out qwerty keyboard. The SIM free X10 Mini Pro is available from the Mobile Fun website.

The SIM free X10 Mini and Mini Pro are more than just scaled down versions of the X10, though; really they’re a completely different phone, one which manages to pack a feast of features into a handset only a little larger than a box of matches.

The user interface is intuitive and simple, allowing you to access all of your favourite apps from the homescreen with one touch, and to customize which ones you have available. That gives you speedy access on the go to all of your email, SMS, music and social media functions.
