LG Optimus 7 Comes with a Simple But Attractive User-Interface

LG has become one of the mobile makers that has decided to use the Windows phone 7 OS. The carrier’s latest Optimus 7 is powered by the new Microsoft’s OS and can be characterized as a solid mobile device.

The handset has the weight of 157 g. As the Optimus 7 is considered to be the Windows Phone 7 handset, it comes with three buttons. You can find them on the front of the handset.

The Optimus 7 features a 3.8-inch WVGA LCD display providing the resolution of 800×480 pixels. Although the resolution is not that high, but still you will be impressed by the picture’s details and bright colors.

Also the handset is equipped with a 1GHz processor, 8GB of memory, as well as 5-megapixel camera. Although the Optimus 7 is enabled with a 1,500mAh battery, still it is hoped that the Optimus 7 will be able to stand out from the crowd.

As the mobile device runs Windows Phone 7, it comes with a new user-interface, which is simple and finger-friendly. Moreover, it has a lot of room to grow. The handset is already equipped with the Zune music, Xbox Live as well as office features.

The 5-megapixles camera comes with an LED flash, which means it will support in poorly lit environments. The camera produces good shots but they are not the same from that ones delivered by a compact camera. Still the camera offers a lot of camera settings.

Another good feature of the handset is its 16GB of internal memory.

The LG Optimus 7 is cheaper compared to the HTC HD7. The handset feels solid and its interface fast as well as fresh and it is easy to use.

Samsung E65 WiFi ereader hits UK with digital stylus

Samsung’s E65 ereader has gone on sale in the UK, though you’ll have to dig a little deeper than you would for a Kindle. Currently priced at £213 ($336) through Pixmania, though apparently coming to high street retailers PC World and Currys for £199.99 ($316), the E65 has a 6-inch E Ink display, QWERTY keyboard and WiFi, along with a digital stylus for notetaking.

There’s also a user-accessible battery, 2GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot, text-to-speech and MP3 support, and a 667MHz processor the company reckons should halve the regular start-up time. As for any handwritten notes, they can be made directly onto the display, and you can also sync over Outlook appointments from your PC. Whether that’s enough to make up for the absence of a huge content library, such as on the Kindle, remains to be seen.

Forget 3D TV’s -The 3D Phone Is Here! [Spice M-67 3D]

Spice mobiles seems to have this weird knack of launching phones with outrageous specs. They had a 12 megapixel camera on sale long before the Satio or the Nokia N8 were even on the horizon. That was the S1200 which also boasts of 3x optical zoom! And if you thought it took crappy pictures, be prepared for a surprise. Why are we even talking about it here.

That brings us to the phone in contention today. We are talking about Spice’s latest addition to its portfolio – the M-67 3D. Notice the 3D moniker at the end? Well, its not just a moniker. This phone actually comes with what Spice calls a “auto stereoscopic” display. This display can apparently makes things displayed on it ”more real and physical”. It also boasts of a being capable of viewing ”3D videos” without those ugly glasses. (So what would you like to watch on this thing? :D ) . The M-67 3D also boasts of a 3D image viewer. And it doesn’t end there. The phone also comes with a dedicated button that allows you to flick the phone from 2D mode to 3D and vice versa.

Now let us delve in to the device’s more phone like features. As expected, the M-67 3D is a dual SIM handset. The back is adorned with a 2 megapixel camera that should be enough to capture pictures decent enough to be seen ona 3D display. The rest of the features are the standard fare. It gets expandable memory and can take microsD cards of up to 16 GB.

EVO 4G picks up stylish Powermat induction charger

This isn't your father's Powermat. The company whose name is synonymous with induction charging has undergone a makeover of sorts, reducing the bulk of its egregious logo in addition to the custom battery covers it makes for select devices. The $59.99 mat and receiver door (or $39.99 for the receiver only) for the notoriously power hungy EVO 4G is a good example of where Powermat's aftermarket induction charging tech can melt away into the design without affecting the overall aesthetic. In fact, if it wasn't for that logo and charging connector on the case to the right we'd swear that was a stock EVO 4G handset. See it unboxed and put to task in the video after the break.

LG Optimus T hitting T-Mobile on November 3 for $30

Look out, dumbphones of the world: your days may really be numbered now that we've got US carriers blowing out brand new honest-to-goodness smartphones for $30 on contract. The phone in question here is LG's Optimus T, stablemate to the Optimus S, Optimus One, and Optimus Chic featuring a 3.2-inch HVGA display, 3 megapixel cam, and pre-loaded Swype all sitting atop Android 2.2.

In order to get down to the promised $29.99, you'll need to sign up for a new two-year contract (naturally), score a qualifying data plan, and wait around for a $50 mail-in rebate when the phone goes on sale Wednesday, November 3 in your choice of black or burgundy (pictured).

Kindle books outselling print 2 to 1 for Amazon's top 10 bestsellers,

Amazon has its own applied theory of special relativity, in the sense that we never really know definitive sales figures and instead have to rely on the occasional ratio and comparative figure (based upon aforementioned unknown variables) to glean any sense of success. Jeff Bezos and company are happy to announce the latest Kindle has, in its three months or so since release, surpassed sales of the previous device in its 2009 holiday season (the shopping-heavy October through December period) -- in other words, it expects even greater sales for this year's equivalent quarter, but it can't exactly time travel to report on the future (yet). Ready for more? Amazon's also boasting that, for its top 10 bestselling books, Kindle digital books are outselling print (both hardcover and paperback combined) at a rate "great than 2 to 1." We're going to guess those are better figures than its tipping point back in July, but Mass-Sales Equivalence was never our strong suit in college. More fun factoids and artistic displays of applied statistics can be found in the press release after the break.

Dell Venue Pro to be released with Android OS inside: Will the Specs, Features & Price Tag be same as those of the Windows Phone 7 version?

How would you like to take a Dell Venue Pro home, that has Android inside? No, this is not a contest and we are not giving away one (Like we are with the iPad and the iPhone for free) that is specially made for you. But if the latest news leaking out from Dell is to be believed, then you could actually be getting one sometime in the future. That is right, Dell is indeed busy designing an Android version of the Dell Venue Pro, which currently runs on the Windows Phone 7 OS. So how will the new Dell Venue Pro running on Android look like?

Remember that the Venue Pro that is now out on Windows Phone 7 sports a QWERTY sliding keypad and a 4.1 WVGA AMOLED capacitive display. On the inside is 1GHz Snapdragon chip with 512 MB RAM. There is also the 5 Megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. So will the Dell Venue Pro, if and when it comes on Android, sport the same look and features?

For starters we seriously expect that 512 MB RAM to go up. That was a limitation put by Microsoft so that all Windows Phone 7 mobiles have a level platform for the OS. But with the Venue Pro on Android, Dell can get the RAM up for sure. Yes, there will be a few Android-related button changes, but other than that, most could remain the same. Even the price tag should be very similar as that would make the Android handset competitive.

So when can we expect the Dell Venue Pro with Android inside to get out? Hopefully soon as then we could see a direct face off between WP7 and Android on the same handset!

Western Digital stuffs 1TB HDD into Live Hub networked media streamer

WD's no stranger to the media streaming game, but things apparently just got serious. Gone is the My Book-esque design that has been used on all of the units prior, and in is a sleeker, sexier box that's quite clearly designed to slip right on top of your existing cable set-top. The WD TV Live Hub is easily Western Digital's most feature-packed streamer yet, with a 1TB HDD within for storing who knows what locally. There's also an Ethernet socket for pulling down content via the web or your local network, and a pair of USB ports allow for storage expansion or transfers. Naturally, it'll handle Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, Blockbuster on Demand and UPnP / DLNA streaming to your favorite game console, but the lack of inbuilt WiFi (it's available via an optional adapter) puts a mild damper on an otherwise fantastic sounding product. It's available immediately around the globe, with Americans able to snag one for $199.99 directly from WD or at Best Buy.

Epson shoves a Core i7 processor in a chunky nettop, will build it to your specification

Tiny desktops? Good. Wimpy processors? Bad. Epson's Endeavor ST150E? Possibly the best of both worlds. Sure, it's bigger than your average nettop, about twice as tall, but for that extra girth you get a selection of Intel processors ranging from a Celeron P4600 all the way up to a Core i7-640M. It also sports a DVD-R/W drive, up to 8GB of RAM, 640GB on platters or a 64GB SSD, mountability behind an LCD, and power consumption as low as 16 watts -- though we're guessing that's with the Celeron. Indeed you can get this built however you want, with a starting price at 64,890 yen, or just under $800. But, get liberal with the options and you could be looking at a rather less frugal 190,000 yen. That's about $2,300, and an awful, awful lot for a little machine.

Twitter Trends: Justin Bieber movie, Walkman, Take That tour dates

Pint-sized Canadian popstar Justin Bieber is making waves in the Twittersphere this morning after Paramount Pictures released a trailer for his upcoming bio-pic.

Yes, that’s right, next February fans will be able to see the ’struggles’ that the 16-year-old has been through to get to the top of his game … and what’s more it’s in 3D … like everything these days, even real life.

Entitled Never Say Never, the trailer is a celebration of the human spirit, reminding us we must never give up on our dreams … however old we get … that’s right, if you’re 15 and still trying to break into the music industry, there’s still a chance.

‘They said it would never happen, they said he would never make it … but YOU never stopped believing’ … and now YOU’VE reaped what you sowed.

Of course Bieber online is a phenomenon matched only by the might of Lady Gaga, so the hashtag #neversaynever3D has rapidly ascended to the the number one Twitter trend today, largely fuelled by adoring fans watching the trailer (which you can see here) again and again.

However, as always, not everyone has nice things to say about the youngster, as perennial Twitter cynic Lord_Voldermort7 (I don’t know what the other 6 are up to) proves with his rather witty and astute point: ‘Bieber’s movie’ll be in 3D? So it’ll seem like he’s in front of you, but you can’t hit him? It’s like a nightmare!’

Elsewhere, the news that the Sony Walkman will no longer be made has been attracting attention in the Twittersphere for a couple of days now.

Yes, that’s right, although no one has bought a cassette in over a decade, little did you now, Sony have been plugging away all these years producing Walkman’s still, presumably exclusively for museums and landfill … well, it’s over, Sony have said enough is enough … they need more time to concentrate on their new ranges such as portable laserdisc players, 8-Track players, minidiscs and the quite revolutionary portable LP player.

Richardroeper summed up what we were all thinking when he said: ‘Sony announces it will no longer make Walkman cassette players. In other news, Sony was still making Walkman cassette players?’ and DjinnieUK struck a chord with my childhood when he Tweeted: ‘I always wanted a Walkman and all I ever got was portable cassette players, much like those kids with shitty mp3 players who ask for an ipod’

RIP Walkman … you would be missed … if it was 1995.

And finally, talking about 1995, that was the last time #takethat toured together as a five piece.

The band has captured the imagination of the micro-bloggers today as tour details have been released for the band’s stadium extravaganza in 2011 … and yes Robbie Williams is on board, I can hardly wait.

Current Twitter trends: Android Market, Gregory Isaacs, Karva Chauth

"ZOMBIE COUGARS" is a promoted term at the top of Tuesday's chart being used to generate chatter about the video game Red Dead Redemption.

Sony's decision to stop selling Walkman cassette players keeps "Walkman" in fifth place, and the death of Jamaican reggae musician Gregory Isaacs puts his last name in sixth place.

Tweets announcing the "Android Market surpasses 100,000 apps: can't stop, won't stop growing" have resulted in Google's "Android Market" gaining the seventh spot in Tuesday's chart.

Both "Karva" and "Chauth" feature in Twitter's most talked about topics on October 26 as married women in India and Pakistan take part in the one-day Karva Chauth festival by fasting and praying for long life, well being and prosperity for their husbands.

In ninth place is the name of both a fictional character in the Halloween films and comedian and actor "Michael Myers."

The end of an era: the Walkman is no more

Sony has ended the life of an icon of the '80s and '90s – the Walkman.

The electronics giant says it is stopping production due to a lack of sales, and once the last batch made six months ago sells out – that will be the end.

Back in the day, the Walkman was all that, and then some.

Created in 1978, it took quite some time to catch on; at first it was called the Soundabout, then the Stowaway before finally, the Walkman name stuck.

Of course, as with any new technology, there were problems – many simply cranking the Walkman up too loud.

The Japanese invention did pretty well – over two decades 200 million units were sold.

It would be fair to say the iPod finally killed the portable cassette player, and while the Walkman can fit 30 lovely three-minute songs, it is outdone by the modern iPod, which can store 40,000.

Sony is still selling a few Walkmans in New Zealand for around $70, but when they run out, that's it.

But at least we'll still have the memories.

Sony is out with their latest PMP, the A845. The advertisement looked good right? But does it really deliver “as shown on TV”? We plug-in the earphones and find out!

Design
The device has a sleek look, with a crystal clear 2.8 inch OLED display on the front. Below the display are the main function keys laid out in a round dial format. Palm Pre 2 and webOS 2.0 showcased in new commercial

It's hard to tell if the ad embedded after the break is purely official, but it definitely reeks of HP. In a good way, that is. Uploaded by the same fellow that gave us our first sneak peek at webOS 2.0, this "Sizzle" ad shows 34 solid seconds of Palm Pre 2 action, complete with a glimpse at Angry Birds, Facebook and all sorts of new 2.0 features. We're aren't totally digging the tunes, but otherwise, it looks to be rather attractive -- way better than the first wave of original Pre ads, that's for sure.

HTC Speedy a Knight in Sprint armor coming January 6th?

We were just getting used to HTC Knight when along comes more supposed details of the still-unconfirmed slider. Boy Genius Report has what it claims is a leaked accessories list from Sprint that reveals a case for the Knight is due on January 6th, 2011. Does that mean the phone itself is launching on the same date? Would that date have something to do with the start of CES? Oh, and BGR also claims from a source the Knight is getting a new title. What do you think about the HTC Speedy -- descriptive, eh? As far as we can tell, there isn't really much else to go by at this point, so our jump to conclusion will just have to stay under the bed for now.
