Nokia has no plans for Android devices

Much of the talk in the smartphone market tends to center on Apple, Android, and RIM devices. Despite the fact that these three tend to grab much of the headlines in the smartphone world, Nokia is still the clear leader in the market.

Nokia has 38% of the global smartphone market. The company relies on Symbian as its OS of choice, but that is changing to MeeGo with the next generation of smart devices. Some are wondering if Nokia will offer Android smartphones considering the appeal with consumers.

Nokia has answered that question with a firm no. Nokia’s Niklas Savander has stated that Nokia doesn’t want to hand over its destiny to a third party, which is Google in the case of Android. Nokia remains committed to MeeGo and Symbian.

Verizon Wireless might get an iPhone this January?

Verizon Wireless might get an iPhone this January? It's about time. Or is it too late? New reports show that Google's Android is eating the iPhone's lunch. And by clinging to AT&T exclusivity and staying clear of Verizon, Apple is effectively serving up that lunch on a shiny silver platter.

For a decade, Apple played Ice Man in a calculated dogfight of product design and marketing. It rarely made a misstep, and its successes were legendary as a result. This year, Apple has not shown itself to be so level-headed.

You could cite Antennagate or the missing white iPhone as evidence Apple is losing its cool, but these are mishaps, destined to follow previous iPhonapocalypses and Applegeddons into the void of the forgotten past.

No, the biggest reason is that it miscalculated how much a prolonged exclusivity with AT&T would cost. The deal has been lucrative — God knows AT&T pays well for the privilege — but the downside has been that Apple has let a reasonable iPhone copy become the No. 1 selling smart phone platform in America.

Motorola Droid 2 now official, original Droid retired

Verizon Wireless has finally, officially launched the Motorola Droid 2, although weeks of leaks have already shown customers the price, specs and release date.

The device will hit stores on Thursday the 12th, with online pre-sales starting tomorrow morning.

Motorola's new flagship will sell for $200 with 2-year contract, or $600 without.

Furthermore, once all the inventory is depleted, the aging original Droid will be retired.

The Droid 2 is very similar to its older brother, but with a few key differences. The sequel has a powerful 1GHz processor and twice the RAM, as well as a redone keyboard.

Many owners of the original Droid complained about the slide-out keypad, which was off center in order to add a directional pad which was practically useless. The Droid 2 has a more centered keypad.

Additionally, the Droid 2 is silver-on-blue, includes Android 2.2 Froyo, and has a new Motorola "skin" just like the Droid X.

iPad? Meet iPed, Meizu’s MBook, Ezy Tablet, aPad and The large iPhone

Like a successful gadget, the iPad already has an abundance of forgeries, some more interesting than the original toy. Here are the six of the best of them.

When your product is doing well everyone wants a taste of your success. Forgeries and knockoffs have been an inseparable part of the technological world for a year now and every successful product comes with dozens of knockoffs and forgeries some more successful than others.

And still, when the original product is so expensive, sometimes it pays to meet the cheaper and a little limited alternatives. The iPad is no different. Apple’s tablet PC already has a lot of forgeries and you might want to get to know them.

Meizu’s MBook

If you don’t know Meizu, you’ve missed the first iPhone knockoffs supplied by that company. The Meizu is a device very similar to the iPad externally but it is equipped with 8.5inch compared to the 9.7inc of the iPad.

In order to make up for the smaller screen the MBook will enable you to enjoy an HDMI port supporting 1080p, a much higher quality than the VGA port of the iPad.

Other than that, the device includes a 1.5GHz processor, wireless internet, 3G and GPS connectivity. The OS is a type of android (located on most knockoffs you’ll find). This great device can be found in stores next year.
