Palm Pre 2 gets official

After months of speculation, HP have finally announced that the Palm Pre 2 will arrive in the next few months, sporting their all new webOS 2.0 platform.

The Palm Pre 2 will be the first device to ship with webOS 2.0, which promises support for true multitasking, Adobe Flash 10.1 and seamless social networking integration.

It will also bring with it ‘Just Type’, a new tool which allows you to start an email or message without opening an app first.

It looks like Palm and HP have put a lot of work into their apps too, with Skype Mobile, Facebook, IM and a redesigned App Catalog also all appearing on the upcoming Pre 2.

In the past few minutes the official Palm Pre 2 portal has also been launched, given us an insight into the specs we can be expecting. It will come equipped with:

* 100.7 x 59.6 x 16.9 measurements, 145g weight
* A 1GHz processor
* A 3.1 inch multi-touch display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution
* A full slide out QWERTY keypad
* A 5 megaixel camera with LED flash and video recorder
* Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity
* Built-in GPS
* 16GB of internal memory

The handset is landing on SFR in France this Friday, with a global released expected to follow in “coming months”. No official pricing has yet been mentioned, but we’ll keep you updated.
