Firefox for Mobile, also known as Fennec, is a neat little tool that comes from Mozilla, and it’s literally the smaller brother of Firefox. The first thing you will notice upon starting the browser is how small it is, compared to the big fonts and buttons. The interface is very compact and fluent, navigating through it on a phone is not a big hassle.
The first main window displays a list with your bookmarks and a few quick links at the bottom. At first, you won’t find any menus and toolbars, because when you first start the program you will see only a big address bar and a ‘Go’ button. Once you start browsing a page, the cool features of the browser will start to show.
First of, navigating through the web page is simple, all you need is a mouse, if you are on a computer of course. The pages can be panned in any direction by clicking in an empty space on a page, and to zoom in and out, all you need is the middle scroll button of the mouse.
If you pan the page to the left or right, two toolbar will appear on each side. The left toolbar contains the currently opened tabs, while the right toolbar has the navigation buttons and the bookmarking button. You will also find the configuration menu on the right toolbar, from where you can change some simple but important settings. One of the greatest features of Fennec is that it has add-ons, just like Firefox. Although the add-ons available for this little browser are not that many, they are enough to augment this little browser, and more are developed all the time.
Overall, the browser is excellent, but the PC version might feel a little basic if you are used to browsers like Firefox or Safari. However, in the category of simple browsers, Fennec is at the top of the market, and it can easily become your favorite mobile browser.
